Healing Trauma: Reclaiming Your Wholeness
Trauma knows no boundaries. Mental, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse can happen to anyone, at any age, and the effects can be deeply profound and lifelong if left unhealed. When trauma occurs—especially during the early developmental stages of childhood—it can overwhelm the mind, body, and spirit, leaving a lasting imprint that carries through to adulthood.
The early years of a child’s life are critical for emotional and psychological development. During this time, children depend on their caregivers for safety, love, and validation. When abuse or neglect happens, it disrupts this foundation, creating deep wounds that often remain unresolved.
How Childhood Trauma Impacts Development
Childhood trauma doesn’t just affect the moment it happens—it shapes how a child sees themselves, others, and the world around them. A child’s sense of self can become fragmented when faced with abuse or neglect. Psychologists often refer to this as dissociation, where parts of the self disconnect to cope with overwhelming emotions. From a spiritual perspective, this fragmentation can also affect the soul, leaving the person feeling incomplete.
When the inner child becomes fragmented, the person may experience:
- Feelings of emptiness or being lost
- Overwhelming guilt or shame: A false belief that they somehow deserved the abuse.
- A pervasive sense of being unsafe and unworthy
Without healing, these wounds often follow us into adulthood, shaping our behaviours and beliefs in damaging ways.
How Trauma Shows Up in Adulthood
The effects of unresolved childhood trauma often ripple through all aspects of life. Common patterns include:
- Self-destructive behaviours: Using drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, gambling, or sex as distractions from internal pain.
- Mental health struggles: Anxiety, depression, and panic attacks can stem from unhealed trauma.
- Low self-esteem: Feeling unloved, unworthy, or “not good enough” is a frequent outcome.
- Difficulty with boundaries: Struggling to express or recognise personal needs or to set healthy limits with others.
- Relationship challenges: Trouble committing, connecting, or feeling satisfied in intimate relationships, often linked to trust issues formed in childhood.
Renowned trauma expert Dr Gabor Maté explains that ongoing trauma, particularly in childhood, can emotionally shut a person down. This can weaken the immune system and nervous system, creating stress and disease within the mind and body.
Trauma from a Spiritual Perspective
From a spiritual point of view, trauma doesn’t always originate in this lifetime. Some of the wounds we carry may come from past lives, where unresolved experiences or karmic patterns continue to affect us today. These spiritual traumas can create feelings of limitation, fear, or imbalance that we may not fully understand.
Through a Spiritual Healing Hypnosis Therapy (SHHT) session, we can access these past life experiences, release the energetic and emotional blocks they create, and restore balance to our soul. By healing on this deeper spiritual level, you can free yourself from patterns that no longer serve you and step into your full potential.
Healing the Whole Person: Mind, Body, and Spirit
Trauma affects every aspect of who we are—mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. That’s why my approach to healing is holistic. I work with the whole person to help them feel integrated and complete again.
Using evidence-based techniques like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and clinical hypnotherapy, combined with spiritual healing hypnosis, I will guide you in releasing the pain and integrating the fragmented parts caused by trauma. Together, we work to:
- Heal and integrate the inner child.
- Release past life or karmic traumas.
- Clear the emotional and energetic residue of trauma from the mind, body, and spirit.
- Reconnect you to your true sense of self-worth, safety, and wholeness.
When the deeper lessons of trauma are understood and integrated, the pain and suffering begin to dissolve. You are no longer defined by your past but empowered to embrace your future.
The Cost of Unhealed Trauma
If left unresolved, childhood trauma can lead to long-term physical and emotional consequences. Chronic stress during a child’s formative years creates a sense of disease within the mind and body. This often results in physical illnesses later in life, as well as persistent feelings of disconnection or hopelessness. Healing the root of these wounds isn’t just a gift to your present self—it’s an investment in your long-term well-being.
